"A Surefire Way To Manage Your Fears While Leading A Happier, Healthier Life"

Imagine discovering a way to get rid of your fears in a quick and painless manner. In fact it can even become fun!

Did you know only two of all the fears you have are innate:

The fear of falling and the fear of loud noises. Most of your fears were learned in early childhood and then in later life under stressful conditions.

Traditional therapeutic approaches would probably have you trying to figure out where your fear originally came from. Maybe they'd have you digging around in your childhood memories, recalling times you ate the next-door neighbours purple Tulips. This type of approach tends to associate the client into reliving unpleasantness and can take a long time to achieve useful results. Personally I think this style is way out of date and bordering on torture.

You'll probably be glad to know we're not going to be doing anything like that. The truth is you can easily and quickly undo the learnings that created specific fears and change your responses to something much more useful.

So just how do fearful feelings occur then? Well lets use a common example: Fred wants a raise and he's been wanting to ask his boss for months. Finally he decides to go and ask. BUT when he starts the walk down the corridor he starts to feel certain sensations in his body. Weird stomach feelings. His breathing is constricted. Slight sweating on parts of his body. His vision is effected. Fred decides to turn back and then sits down feeling slightly annoyed with himself.

His body started producing 'fear chemicals.' What happened?

"Well it was because he defied his Dad one time when he was four. Let's explore those forgotten memories...."

NO! NO! NO! Let's do something much smarter and definitely more fun.

Hey Fred come over here I want to show you something really cool! O' come on, pick your lip up.

You know how before you got up to go and ask the boss for a raise, you felt OK right? So between the time you got up and started walking something happened. Something triggered those feelings in you. Here's a fact for you: You either made a picture in your head or talked to yourself in a way that created those fearful sensations and that happened at an unconscious level out of your awareness.

"OK Colin that might be true but so what, what's your point?"

Well the point is by changing the internal sounds, pictures and voices in your head you can begin to gain control of your emotions.

"Fair enough but how can I do that so when I'm in a similar situation I automatically make useful pictures, sounds and voices in my head so I remain in a resourceful state?"

Good question, here's just one way you can achieve the results you want using a simple and powerful tool from the field of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)

Soothing Movie Music
================

  • Think of a situation where you feel fear.
  • Dissociate: See yourself in the situation like you would a
    movie with you in it.
  • Imagine running the memory from the END of the fearful
situation, BACKWARDS to the START. Do this very fast in less
    then 1 second!
  • Think of some music that makes you feel the opposite of
fear. For example soothing classical music makes you feel
relaxed. Perhaps certain rock or dance music makes you feel
    energised/courageous etc.
  • Now hear the music, nice and loud, inside your mind whilst
looking at yourself going through the situation from START
    to END.
  • Break state. Now think of the situation you choose in Step
1 and notice how your fearful feelings have diminished.
  • What will you see or hear just before you want this new
    feeling to set in?

Create Your Own Luck And You Will Never Fail...

Why is it that some people succeed at things while others fail?

Is there such a thing as creating your own luck?

The answer is quite simple, those who succeed chose to 'do something' and do it now rather than later.

For example, imagine that 100 people read the exact same book that I did. I benefited from what was written and implemented the information in it to my advantage. Yet the other 100 people managed to come up with 100 different reasons why the book either wouldn't work for them or how it didn't fit their situation. The point being, everyone has choices available to him or her. They can choose to make money or choose to make excuses, it's really as simple as that! People who make excuses just leave more opportunities open to those of us who do want to succeed. Those who don't sit idly by and use golden opportunities to their best advantage all have one thing in common, they just got started and don't make excuses about why they can't!

There are thousands of reasons why you can't make a start today. The timing may not be right or you may be too busy today to make a start. Most people who do succeed are usually at the busiest time of their lives, so the real question here is, are you too busy to make money? Or maybe your computer is too slow or needs updating? Possibly the software you are using isn't right to start your internet business? People like that keep telling themselves "once I get this new software or computer then I'll start.... " and go along on their merry way looking for even more plans. All the while they are waiting, they are letting golden opportunities pass them by. These people are never going to make money with that attitude because the time will never be right. So once again the real question here is when is the right time to start making money?

Others wait until every one around them is making money from working hard on a realistic plan, then call them 'lucky'? There is no such thing as being 'lucky' in this situation. We all make our own luck by taking an opportunity with both hands and 'doing something' with it! How many books have you read this year? How many ideas have you implemented from your newfound knowledge? Be truthful now! If you buy a book, make it your goal to implement at least one idea you have found.

Take some responsibility for yourself. If you don't 'do something' nobody will jump up and do it for you. By being responsible for your own success, you will find that your goals and ambitions aren't really that far from you. Ask someone who is successful and they will tell you the same thing because it's true. If you are having trouble being successful, be aware that you have the tools and opportunities. All that you need is to 'do something' about it. Create Your Own Luck.

"How To Create Supreme States Of Mind That Empower You To Make Magnificent Changes..."

One of the most important and useful aspects of using NLP to master yourself is in the art of creating resource states. Resource states are states of mind that can be used to positively re-program your past, present and future.

One of the classic uses in NLP is for programming a state of confidence into your future. Most adults have experienced a profound sense of confidence at some stage in their life. Maybe it only lasted a few seconds and was many years ago. This is fine. The beauty of NLP allows us to capture that wonderful resource and create more of that state, and place it exactly where we desire!

The amount of different useful states of mind is vast and the fact is we hardly ever tap into these 'hidden resources.' Resource states include; Confidence, Creativity, Relaxation, Playfulness, Concentration, Perseverance, Ecstasy.... Any others?

Here's a couple of examples to clarify what I'm getting at:

Have you ever read a book that made you feel really inspired? Where could you use that? How about programming that state into your workplace? Do you compose music? Paint? Giving a sales pitch?

Can you remember or imagine a time being in nature, surrounded by mellow shades of green with soft sounds of birds in the distance and a close by stream. Where could you use that state of tranquility?

And now to the actual technique. Treat yourself to 10 - 15 minutes to do this the first time. As you practice the technique more you'll be able to achieve good results in less time....

NLP Technique:

Program A Resource State Into A Future Situation

  • Think of a resource state you want more of in a future situation. (Joy, Ecstasy, Fun, Creativity, Confidence, Compassion etc.)
  • Relax down into a trance. (Use whatever way you want to go into a relaxed state. e.g. Deep breathing, self-hypnosis, meditation techniques.) The more relaxed you become the more powerful the rest of the exercise will be, so enjoy becoming more relaxed.
  • Remember a time you felt the chosen resource state strongly. Or imagine a situation in the future that would allow you to feel that resource state.
  • Fully associate into the experience and see what you saw at the time, hear what you heard and feel those feelings. Make the colours brighter, turn up the sounds and amplify the feelings. Anchor this feeling by squeezing your finger and thumb together.
  • Notice where those feelings are in your body. What colour would you give these feelings? Imagine spreading that colour/feeling up and down your body, amplifying the feelings. When the feelings are amplified, again squeeze your finger and thumb together to capture that feeling.
  • Break state. (Look around the room or remember your phone number.)
  • Test Anchor: Squeeze your finger and thumb together. If you've done the above steps correctly you should feel those feelings coming back. Congratulate yourself (This is very useful as it re-enforces the idea in your mind that you can do these exercises and they will become even easier to do!)
  • Here's a great tip they don't often tell you in NLP books. Treat yourself and make a 'Super Resource State'? Go back to step one and stack another state on top of the first one. Squeeze the same finger and thumb together! Cool or what? (Example: Confidence AND Creativity.)
  • Now think of a specific situation where this supreme resource state would be useful.
  • Imagine what you will see/hear just before you wnt this state to kick in. Example: The boss's door, the eye's of a specific member of the opposite sex, a blank painting canvas, a tennis ball etc.
  • Now fire the resource anchor by squeezing your finger and thumb together whilst imagining being in the chosen situation, unfolding as you desire it too.

Well done, you can now look forward to that future situation even more. Where else and how else can you use the above technique? (Hint: The possibilities are virtually unlimited!)

Each time you practice the technique with another resource state/situation you will condition your mind to make the procedure even easier next time...

Four Rules For Effective Listening

Listening is one of the most powerful tools at your disposal to help build your business. So here's a quick reminder of the 4 rules (or guidelines, really) to be a great listener…

1. Be Present
2. Be Acknowledging
3. Be Accepting
4. Be Curious

Keep these in mind and you'll be a more effective listener and business builder.

Have a great week!

"If we all worked on the assumption that what is accepted as true is really true, there would be little hope of advance." Orville Wright
