Home, Glorious Home

“This is home truly, where I know I must be, where my dreams wait for me, where that river always flows. This is home surely, as my senses tell me. This is where I won’t be alone, for this is where I know it’s home.”

As “Home”, the theme song of the 2004 National Day Parade, resonates throughout Singapore, it serves as a living testament to the imbued national pride of our 4 million lion city denizens who call this island home. Singaporeis Home. No matter where we are, our home always remains our pillar of strength. This passion in the country would always be brought to the peak during National Day. As sparkling fireworks illuminate the heavens above, a reflection of our exuberant spirits, the whole world would be witness to Singaporeans’ love for our homeland.

The 2004 Singapore National Day Parade was part of the month-long ‘Celebrate Singapore’ affair of super-charged entertainment, star-studded concerts, fireworks display and live performances, all of which add up to well-deserved accolades that will hang on the shelf (and in our hearts) for years to come. Amidst the joyous atmosphere, the inaugural Singapore Fireworks Festival (SFF 2004 for short) served as the high-profile celebration to the nation’s 39th Birthday.

United, We Shine

On the night of 1st August, SFF 2004 unveiled its glamour with a plethora of explosions after President SR Nathan conducted the opening ceremony. As splendid fireworks shot up to the skies above, transforming into dazzling pyrotechnic displays in that very instant, everyone’s emotions also surged to the peak. The various fireworks manifestations further drew a kaleidoscope of awestruck and appreciative cheers.

If the dazzling fireworks have been a shining prelude for Singapore National Day, then the Parade on 9th August was the true show of nation-wide unity. After months of rehearsals, performing troupes from all walks of life could finally display their patriotism. As they ignited the passion and dynamism of Singapore, one could almost visualise this young island-state coming to life as she progresses towards a brighter future with firm and steady footsteps, continuous quests for breakthroughs and innovation, and unwavering determination.

Attending this prestigious occasion as a distinguished guest, Bel’Air Regional CEO of Asia Miss Lee Xiang Yin was clearly overcome by emotions as she described the scene on that day, “When I saw (then) Senior Minister Lee Kuan Yew march up to the officer gallery with steady footsteps, followed by a neat row of Members of Parliament who were clad in white, thunderous cheers and incessant applause resonated through the stadium. I too waved the Singaporeflag passionately. This group of people has put in tremendous effort to protect this country and to create a place all Singaporeans can call home. At that moment, gratitude filled my heart. Throughout the entire Parade, my tears just kept flowing, the surges of emotion within me were indescribable.”

Celebrating National Day, Gloriously

Bel’Air is honoured to be the principal sponsor of the 2004 Singapore National Day Parade, doing its bit for the country together with other major corporations. From the NDP committee’s undertaking of the organisation, planning and publicity work, right up to the end result that all Singaporeans witnessed, it has been a significant national event. Bel’Air is proud to be a part of this celebration and all Bel’Airians have been thrilled to giving their full cooperation. In Singaporewhere the network marketing industry is opening up, Bel’Air has taken the first step to sponsor a major national celebration of this scale. Besides elevating the image of the network marketing industry, Bel’Air also hopes that more corporations will thereby join in the work for the community.

May SingaporeAlways be Peaceful and Prosperous

While we do our bit for the country and community, that being our driving force behind the sponsorship of the National Day Parade, it has nevertheless created for us many added values. From this act of sponsorship, more people have come to know about Bel’Air as a company that is grateful and willing to walk the talk. In the process, Bel’Air associates have also devoted themselves entirely to supporting this cause. The spirit of unity, as everyone moved in one direction set by our leaders, is exactly what the Bel’Air culture is about and what we hope will ever endure.

Through the sponsorship of the National Day Parade, Bel’Air has witnessed a piece of Singaporehistory and Bel’Airians have drawn closer as a result. Sometimes, the banalities of our lives may cause us to forget or take for granted the fact that home will always be here and that we indulge in ideas of being elsewhere. The National Day Celebrations is that time when we remind ourselves to embrace the virtues of tolerance, integrity and dynamism that are quintessentially Singaporean. It is that time when we all get closer to home.
